Innovation Meets Opportunity

Have you ever designed an apartment exactly how you wanted it then had to take it all down and put everything in boxes? There are moments that require you to move, such as, a new job opportunity, getting married or simply trying something new, but you have spent all the time finding the perfect paint color, bedspread and couch but what if you could move and keep everything how it was? What if packing was a thing of the past?

A new invention allows you to do just that and save you money! According to fastcoexist.com, Jeff Wilson started working with a firm called Frog to invent the tech-packed home called Kasita, he designed these homes after an experiment by living in a renovated dumpster. These small homes and are giving the opportunity to stop packing, start saving and go explore!

Each apartment is built with the technology of a smart house and the size is about 30% larger than a shipping container. You may be thinking, “That’s so small,” but you don’t have to worry about the hassle of roommates or finding a new place in your new town – you just need to download an app! Just click a button on an app and your apartment can be loaded up and taken to another city. Kasita will be about half of what a Studio apartments will go for in that location. So you can be in the middle of big expensive cities such as, San Francisco, New York City and even Columbus, OH, and pay a low rent cost.

The Kasita are so smart tech, Wilson says, “You can tell the glass to darken if you want privacy, turn on the lights and music, or ask for the morning news.” The first Kasita rack will be in Austin and is estimated to be completed in the spring of 2016. It’s reported that Wilson and Frog, have plans to build the racks in multiple cities so you will have the opportunity to click that button and move to the next city.

Think of all the opportunities this will open for those who travel a lot for work, the military, etc. Columbus, OH, is a fast growing city in both job opportunities and population, which makes finding an apartment for decent price - hard to do. Imagine if they chose Columbus to build one of the tracks, you would be right downtown and you could walk to the Short North, go to the Statehouse or walk to the historic King Lincoln District and have lunch while listening to some jazz music. Woods Development Group, LLC. is always learning from these fun and new ideas and are looking for ways to bring them to the King Lincoln District in Columbus. Furthermore, would you be willing to live in one in a Kasita?
