Master Planning Services​

Woods Development Group, LLC. (WDG) provides comprehensive master planning, design/build and general contracting services to corporate, institutional and developer clients. WDG was founded in 2011, by Michael Woods Sr. WDG is based on three key principles: hard work, Integrity, and attention to detail. Within a few years, WDG has grown into a multidisciplinary Real Estate Development and Construction Company. Located in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. WDG is registered by the State of Ohio as a licensed MBE and EDGE entity and WDG is a State of Ohio certified EDGE and MBE firm.

 

Woods Development Group (WDG) master planning service is designed to give our clients a clear vision of future growth developed in the context of complex and dynamic influences. Whether it is a Master Plan to ensure the future functionality of a single facility or a Master Plan to meet the projected needs of a mixed-use development or entire campus, the approach that we use is the same. We work with the clients at a very detailed level to identify projected changes in concept of operations, staffing and workload and determine future requirements. We compare those requirements to the existing situation and develop a logical plan to meet the future needs. Throughout the process, we consider operational phasing, temporary space allocation, as well as economics and financial viability. Master Plans are living documents and although they are based on the best information available, they provide a logical direction for change, and not necessarily always the ultimate solution. This is critical so that as the inevitable changes occur the Master Plan can adapt to meet those adjusting needs.

Our master planning service is designed to give our clients a clear vision of future growth developed in the context of complex and dynamic influences. These influences range from sustainability strategies, pedestrian routes, vehicle access, parking, changes in demographics, infrastructure, existing building inventory, and future building needs. It is our goal to facilitate positive engagement with the greater community and to effectively enhance the quality of life.

Visioning

 

​​​WDG works with our client to help identify their vision through the collaborative planning workshop process. ​​​​This process often occurs in a "design charrette" that brings together the client group with designers and other creative team members. The study's findings are discussed and ideas presented by all involved. Specific goals for this brainstorming session differ, depending on the type of development.

Programming

 

WDG’s programming service creates an outline for the design of a building. Our experience covers the full range project types, including those from higher education, recreation, K-12 education, civic and residential sectors. Our service is informed by a clear understanding of functional and spatial requirements. This understanding has developed from many years of experience designing these types of facilities and understanding the relationship between concept and form. These programming services also provide our clients with the opportunity to identify both construction and project costs before the architectural design even begins.
